Counseling and Family Support

“It’s not always easy to say ‘I need help.’ Once I admitted I couldn’t handle my grief on my own, I was able to get the assistance I need to begin to enjoy my life again.”

Mike took care of his wife Ella through a long illness, and after her death he found his sadness nearly unbearable. “It’s not always easy to say ‘I need help,’” Mike said, and he insisted to his children and his friends that he was fine. A neighbor gently told him that she’d been helped by getting grief counseling, and recommended he try it. “Once I admitted I couldn’t handle my grief on my own, I was able to get the assistance I need to begin to enjoy my life again.”

Mental Health and Senior Counseling

If you need help dealing with emotional issues, compassionate social workers will be there for you. They provide senior counseling for depression, anxiety, loneliness, grief related to losses, challenging living situations, limitations in daily activities, limited support from family/friends, or chronic illness and pain. You can meet with a licensed independent social worker in your own home or in our private offices. These supportive counseling services are covered by Medicare (some fees may apply) and select Medicare Advantage Plan providers, including Anthem, Aetna, United Behavioral Health, and Molina. If you do not qualify for Medicare, private pay options are available.

Caregiver Support

If a parent or other loved one depends on you for any level of care, you are a caregiver, whether you organize paperwork and pay bills, make a weekly phone call to check in, or provide 24-hour hands-on care. Being a caregiver can take a toll on your physical and emotional well-being. Make sure your own needs are taken care of so you can focus on the person who depends on you. You can access respite care, educational programs on care issues, interventions regarding crises or family dynamics, support during grief and loss, care coordination, and personal support and senior counseling. Get help assessing, identifying and solving problems.
