AgeWell Cincinnati a Resource During National Family Caregivers Month

This November we recognize National Family Caregivers Month and the 44 million Americans who provide support for family members as they age or manage a disability. AgeWell Cincinnati can provide caregivers with the support they need, in addition to solutions for their loved ones.

If you have someone in your life who depends on you for any level of care, you are a caregiver. Whether you organize paperwork and pay bills, make a weekly phone call to check in, or provide 24-hour hands-on care, in one way or another, you are supporting a loved one. That takes time, dedication, and compassion.

This November we recognize National Family Caregivers Month and the 44 million Americans who provide support for family members as they age or manage a disability. You may not have asked to be a caregiver, but if you are among those 44 million, you have real responsibilities and commitments. Running away from the situation is not an option, especially if you are taking care of a parent or loved one. Lives are at stake. Someone is depending on you to make the right decisions and gather the support needed to live well and thrive.

The truth is, being a caregiver can be overwhelming. It can take a toll on your physical and emotional wellbeing. You are not alone in sometimes thinking it is too much to handle. Many caregivers I have talked to say they don’t know where to start and they don’t know what to do. Caregivers in our community can start by calling AgeWell Cincinnati. We are here for you.

With one call, you will have access to credentialed resource experts, who will connect you to the resources you need. Between our partner organizations, we offer more than 60 programs and services geared toward helping older adults and their caregivers live healthy and enjoyable lives. To name a few, Jewish Family Service offers Care Management and Counseling, which assists caregivers and family members in managing complex health and emotional conditions; Cedar Village provides a Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group; and the Mayerson JCC offers an Adult Children of Aging Parents Support Group in which participants discuss the challenges associated with caring for aging parents and provide each other feedback and support for those in similar situations.
